There are certain things about Spring that make me so happy. Obviously the warmer, sunnier, longer days make me smile but I think it's the sight of daffodils that moves me the most. Those quintessential Spring flowers have such a unique smell and they just scream SPRING! A friend in my office gave me a closed daffodil on Monday and it gradually opened to what you see above. Even though my work week has been a tough one, seeing that beautiful flower in front of me each day has made it all better. Despite the fact that today's temperature was a chilly 28 degrees, I know that Spring is just around the corner. Happy Spring, everyone! Hope many daffodils cross your path! xox.
On Sunday, I went out to Brooklyn to go visit the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Cackles was in town so she, the BF and I had brunch at one of our favorites spots, 44 1/2, and headed out to Brooklyn. The weekend prior was the Cherry Blossom Festivalheld annually. Thankfully the cherry blossoms were still in bloom. It was an amazing sight! I think last year we must have gone at a slightly different time because what was in bloom last year was not in bloom this year and vice/versa. I'm so lucky to live in New York where I can have the rough and tough concrete jungle one minute and then a short train ride and I'm witness to a scene as beautiful as anywhere in the country. It's an oasis from the storm. I wanted to share the following photos with you so that you can get a glimpse of what the BBG is all about. It was a truly beautiful afternoon with two of my favorite people. xoxo.
Woot! It's Saturday and it's loooooovely out. Today is all about enjoying the day ahead and thinking good good thoughts. I thought it was appropriate to share with you one of the best Scissor Sisters music videos to date. The video is for their song Kiss You Off. They still have some of the most innovative and tripped out songs and videos around. The video was directed by Robert Hales and styled by Zaldy (<---Click their names to see what they've done in the past - they are tremendously talented). The 'Sisters' are still out on tour and have been getting rave reviews for their highly exciting stage show. I was lucky enough to see their show on March 3rd in NYC and it was yummy yummy yummy. Check this out - you'll love it. Happy Scissor Sisters Saturday, bitches. xxooxx.
Hey kiddies - Just wanted to send out some love on the this first day of Spring! Although, you wouldn't know it's Spring here in the city. There is a ton of old gray snow still piled up on every corner and it's only in to the 40s today. Brrrrrr. But Spring is knocking on our door! Woot! Spring is my favorite season by far. There is such an optimism and excitement I feel when the weather begins to break and the cold long days of Winter slowly disappear. It' s the smell of freshly cut grass (although, thats mighty tough to come by here in New York), the sight of friend's enjoying a drink at an outside cafe, the smell of flowers in bloom, watching moms casually strolling around the park with her kids, the city dwellers coming out of their shell to (re)embrace the city again after a cold Winter. There is NO BETTER city than New York in Spring. If I ever seemed to have fallen out of love with NY when the winter wind was whipping my face, those thoughts quickly melt away with the arrival of Spring. Cheers folks. xoxo.
I found the preceding photos HERE and HERE. Thanks!
