ABOUT THE VIDEO: SUBURBAN is a multifaceted photography, film and installation exhibition created by artist Ian Strange. Over a two year period Strange worked with a film crew and volunteers in Ohio, Detroit, Alabama, New Jersey, New York and New Hampshire to create, photograph and film eight site specific interventions incorporating suburban homes.
ABOUT THE VIDEO: The series comprising two dresses, made of photoluminescent thread and eye tracking technology, is activated by spectators' gaze. A photograph is said to be “spoiled” by blinking eyes – here however, the concept of presence and of disappearance are questioned, as the experience of chiaroscuro (clarity/obscurity) is achieved through an unfixed gaze.
My partner's Mom came up to visit us in New York yesterday, as she often does, and we had an amazing day out. We lovingly call her Cackles because well, she cackles and claps when things are particularly funny. She has been a photographer for years and while she isn't always in practice, Instagram has given her good eye a new life. See the photos below - one is from from her trip up yesterday plus a few more that she captured in her travels that are super great. She's an international woman of mystery after all, ya know! Go follow Cackles on Instagram now.
