What did I think I was getting myself in to when I decided to do a weekly Madonna post?! I've always been a huge fan of Madonna. I basically, like so many other folks, grew up to the sights and sounds of Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone (Ritchie). Only a few months in to my Madonna Monday trip, I realized that it was no small feat to write a lengthy weekly post about anything much less Madonna! However, 52 WEEKS later, my Madonna Monday journey is complete. It's not over in an official sense. I'll likely have Madonna Mondays, Thursdays, late Sundays and whatever you call it. Madge has a new album, two new movies and world tour coming up in 2008 so I know there will be much Madonna goodness to be had. I enjoyed the Madonna Monday posts because it was familiar territory. It was easy because Madonna has always been in my peripheral my entire life. She has always had a a hit single, movie (shut up, you!), tour, album, clothing line or something else that caught my attention that I continued to love. It was a trip down memory lane - a nostalgic journey. In my opinion, Madonna is still admired and loved because she has been anything and everything to everyone. We've either seen some of ourselves in the moves she has made or seen seen who we don't want to become. In her 25+ year career, Madonna has been the saint, the slut, the originator, the copy cat, the angel, the trollop, the lady, the tramp, the business woman, the prude, the enemy but ultimately and always the icon. She has taken the role of Pop Star and turned it on it's head. With the signing of her 120 million dollar 10 year venture with Live Nation, we know that Madonna isn't going any where. We have at least another decade to chat, write, blog, critique, despise, love and experience all things Madge. She/we wouldn't have it any other way. I started my Madonna Monday posts on January 1st of this year with the incredible video remix by videographer and editor Dustin Robertson. Dustin remixed Madonna's song Nobody Knows Me with a brilliant mash up of all of Madonna's looks and personas. It's the perfect beginning and ending.
