One of the best memories from last week was getting up very early on my final day in Rehoboth Beach with my boyfriend and watching the sun rise over the Atlantic. We set the alarm for half past five giving us enough time to brush our teeth, throw on a t-shirt and shorts and get down to the beach before the sun made its way in to sight. The sun rose over the empty beach that morning capping off what was an amazing and beautiful week away. This is the third year that me and my boyfriend made our post-Labor Day trip to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. A few summers ago my parents were renting a house in Chincoteague, Virginia and invited us to come down to stay with them for a few days. We decided to head down to Chincoteague but thought it would be nice to spend a few days alone prior to our family style vacation. A few Google searches and we learned about a gay friendly town just south of the Jersey beaches. Rehoboth Beach was perfectly situated between NYC and Chincoteague. After a few more searches, we found an amazing inn called The Bellmoor Inn. We absolutely loved it after our first stay and decided to come back again each year. Each visit just keeps getting better and better. It may be the familiarity that lends itself the most. We kept saying to each other that it didn't feel like an entire year had gone by since we were last there. Everything had that very familiar feeling. It felt like a New York neighborhood that we had lived or worked in for a good amount of time that we had become accustomed to. The restaurants rival many of our favorites back in New York. The food is always inventive, gorgeously plated and absolutely divine - throw in some amazing wine and it's just about perfect. Rehoboth is really a tremendous little place to visit. The boardwalk, the shopping, the restaurants, the beach and the relaxed culture makes it a tough place to leave. Although, after each amazing trip, we look forward to our next return trip that much more. Another amazing thing about our trips is The Bellmoor. Even if we never left the inn, we'd be absolutely fine. Each morning we'd wake up, shower and head down through the garden to have breakfast. After breakfast we may work out in the gym, take a swim in the pool or just relax on our balcony. We also treated ourselves to massages in the spa at The Bellmoor. We truly escaped from the city and enjoyed ourselves every ounce that we could. I can't tell you how tough the thought of work sounds to me right now! Wait - I'm not even going to go there! Why spoil a great weekend with thoughts of the absolute opposite. Breathe breathe. There we go - all better. I'm so glad I was able to spend this time away with my boyfriend this past week. We rented a car last weekend and drove to Rehoboth on Monday after an overnight stop in Philly to see my boyfriend's amazing mother who we lovingly call Cackles. After a smashing dinner and a few drinks on Sunday evening with Cacks, we departed on Monday for our well deserved 5 days away. It was truly a super duper time. If you are ever stumped on where to go for a little rest and relaxation, then trust a little guy like me who never lies - Rehoboth will not disappoint. Promise. I can't wait until next year when I'm able to share more photos of our latest Rehoboth trip and thinking longingly towards the next. xox.
