Like a Virgin. At the time of it's release in 1984, the world was not sure what to make of Madonna. Madonna was still relatively new on the music scene. With Hit makers like Michael Jackson and Prince already soaring to #1, Madonna needed to make her mark. She opened the First Annual MTV Video Music Awards on top of a giant wedding cake singing her new song Like A Virgin. Dressed in a sexy wedding gown, Madonna danced and rolled around on the floor giving the entire audience and the millions watching a good look at her moves and umm...her underpants - little did we know this was going to be signature trademark of Madonna for years to come. Like A Virgin is still a track that many consider to be one of their favorites. Madonna has performed this song on almost every world tour. Like everything Madonna does, she refused to go the expected route when doing these performances by changing the mood and composition of the song year after year. 
One of my favorites was from the Blond Ambition tour, where she mounted a red velvet bed while two male dancers in conical bras dances at her side. The music was no longer the happy cheesy pop but instead had a Middle Eastern sound to it. I remember when I was just 13 watching this thinking it was the most outrageous thing I had ever seen. I was watching it on MTV one morning and I heard my Mom coming down the hall. At the end of the video, lets just say Madonna gets quite friendly with the bed. I was trying my damnedest to turn off the TV as my Mom was approaching but no such luck. My Mom, not a Madonna fan, was quite upset with what she saw. I think her words were "What is this floozy doing now?!" or something like that. It was not good. Regardless, I thought it was awesome. The following videos are different performances of the song. The first is from the 1990 Blond Ambition Tour, the second is from the 1994 Girlie Show, the third is from Madonna's most recent Confessions Tour and finally the one that started it all off, the performance from the 1st VMAs where she made her debut.
