From one of my favorite sites Towleroad comes this amazing picture. Looking at it, the image is quite remarkable. But what is it exactly? A photo of a tree? A man made sculpture honoring the old Maple? This photo was taken by a Swedish man named Jocke Berglund. The photo won him a Wildlife Photographer of the Year award from London's Natural History Museum. Listed on the museum site is the name of the piece - The World in Our Hands. The BBC news website stated "Jocke Berglund, took this picture after Hurricane Gudrun thundered across southern Sweden in January 2005. It was formed partly by the storm and partly by the impact on the soil by forestry machines." To borrow a quote from Andy Towle, he said "The Earth made us take a second look at what we have taken away from it." It seems even in destruction, one is able, at times, to find some beauty and meaning to it. It's all about perspective. What is on the ground would evoke a completely different emotion.
