I've mentioned before that before moving to Hell's Kitchen I used to live in Stuyvesant Town on New York's east side. After recent news of the 5.4 BILLION dollar sale of the Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village complex making headlines comes news that the sale could now be in jeopardy. One of the biggest real estate deals in history may have been made without realizing it violated a condition in a 1942 agreement. "According to the agreement, Met Life said it would keep its rents low, earning no more than 6%, in exchange for a 25-year city tax break." This could get very interesting. I'm thinking with 5.4 billion dollars at stake this little "agreement" will see it's way to the garbage in no time. To be continued...
