This is so incredibly sad. Adam Goldstein (AKA DJ AM) was found dead in his Manhattan apartment today. It's suspected drugs are to blame. What an awful loss. His music will live on. Adam said on Tuesday via Twitter the following: "New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems." So true. In this case, so sad and so true. Keep up with the story here.
My music selection was inspired by the kind of day I had. Not sure if any of you are Rage against the machine fans but this track is oh so fitting. (It's also one of their best!) I needed something that was just a weeeee bit angry. My day was just....uuuugh. I wouldn't even go in to it here. BUT what I can tell you is that I am earning each and every last second of my upcoming vacation to Rehoboth Beach. Goodness!
I'm loving this guy. His voice is a lil' bit of Lenny Kravitz meets Justin Timberlake but with a British edge. Hello! Yum. I'm lovin' it. The boy is on the rise so jump on board now. He is amaaaaazing. Oh and be sure to check out Erik's site here - erikhassle.com. xox.
The Ice Queen thaws a bit on Letterman's show. You can tell she is really trying to be funny but I don't think funny works well on her. I think I like Anna more on the frosty side. I love her! Watch.
Anna was there to plug her documentary called The September Issue by director RJ Cutler which shows the making of the September 2007 issue of Vogue. I soooo have to see this film. It looks amazing. The trailer is below. Enjoy.
I have featured Joe Homles' amazing pictures on my site many times. I love New York and I love the way Joe captures it time and time again. New York is rich with color and life and that is always highlighted smoothly in each of his shots. Each photo captures a slice of life that I adore in good photography. Each picture tells a story that is alive in New York right outside my door. Kudos Joe - again and again. You can check out his site here - joesnyc.streetnine.com
Having known so many people that have been affected by this recession, the following movie trailer struck home with me. Being fired from a job in this tough time can either make or break you. For the individuals in the new documentary called Lemonade, things are looking up.
"More than 70,000 advertising professionals have lost their jobs in this “Great Recession.” Lemonade is about what happens when people who were once paid to be creative in advertising are forced to be creative with their own lives."
Last night in Manhattan we had an AMAZING storm. It started with massive amounts of lightening and ended with one of the heaviest rains I have seen in a very long time. I only stayed outside for the lightening portion - it was insane and beautiful. I get to see some of the most amazing things from my balcony. This video is a bit on the noisy side due to the strong wind blowing but visually you will see what I mean - it's stunning. The video is on the long side but it's worth it - minute 3:58 is a real highlight. Storms in NYC are sooo incredible. Lights from the ground and the sky meeting one on one. Watch.
In Honor of Madge's 51st birthday, I'm posting a mash up with the Princess of Pop Lady Gaga. The remix is yummy and just the thing to celebrate another fabulous birthday for the Queen Bee Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone. xox.
