"I don’t feel like I look like the other perfect little pop singers. I think I’m changing what people think is sexy." — Lady Gaga ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Oh and while I'm featuring the Rolling Stone cover for the fabulous Lady Gaga, I thought I'd mention how when I saw the shot, it immediately reminded me of Madonna's Rolling Stone cover from 1991. While both are rocking looks from vastly different eras, they both have that similarly sexy stark pink-flushed aesthetic. Check it below. xox.
California Supreme Court ruled today to uphold the gay marriage ban however they will allow 18,000 previously married couples to remain as they were. What kind of $&@% is that?! While I'm happy for those couples I'm still puzzled as to how that makes sense. How should that make these couples feel knowing that the state they live in actually doesn't support their marriage and is only allowing it as part of some loop hole. It's soooooo WRONG! I am not shocked by this news - simply saddened. I was so hopeful that after all the effort that was put forth following the ruling in November that the Supreme Court Members would listen and reverse the absolutely hateful and bigoted ruling in California. Instead, they have set a dangerous precedence that cannot be ignored. Proposition 8 has opened the door for a simple majority of voters to strip away the rights of an unpopular minority. It is amazing to me that with such talk of a division between Church and State that this was ever even able to make it to the high court because a morally and ethically repressed religious group had enough cash to make it so. It makes me sick to my stomach. It's making my head hurt to even continue. Read all about it here.
I have posted this graphic that I created below every year on Memorial Day. It's sad that it's still applicable. I hope that we can get through this awful war soon. It's been way to long and too many have died. We at least have a have a president that recognizes where we have blundered and is putting in place a plan for retreat. It's about time.
Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour is going to be released on DVD shortly. In advance of the release, you can check out numerous clips that made their way to the web. They are faaaaaabulous! Lucky us!
An official trailer has been released for Guy Ritchie's upcoming film Sherlock Holmes. I haven't been a big fan of his more recent releases but I think the tide is turning. This film looks like it could be a hit. The movie features two fabulous actors that I really love - Robert Downey, Jr (Sherlock) and Jude Law (Watson). Oh and from what I've heard, there is some rumored sexual tension between the two characters which I'm looking forward to watching. Yum! :-)Watch it now.
While RJH may get annoyed when I quote this SNL skit, I'm still looooving it. Take a sec to watch. It's not recent - it's just something I wanted to post. Watch. Biiiiiiitch, pleeeeze.
I can't mention SNL without featuring a clip from the always fabulous Kristen Wiig. I decided to feature a sketch with one of my new favorite Wiig characters - Judy Grimes. She is a wreck and I love that!
While I liked the new Star Trek movie, I think I liked the lead actor who played Kirk a bit more. Since my BF asked me to go to see this movie (which is soooo not my genre of film!), I figured I'd make the most of it and try my best to find something to enjoy. It wasn't all that tough. ;-) His name is Chris Pine. He plays a different kind of Kirk - Shatner-esque he is not. The shots below are from GQ Magazine. Check 'em!
